ICT 2 - 1 UNITED AET

29th October 2013

A goal a minute from the end of extra-time defeated brave battling ten-man United to dash hopes of League Cup glory.

It was a heart breaking end to a tempestuous tie, in which they played more than half the game with ten men after Nadir Ciftci was sent off, whilst another 12 players saw yellow.

They got off to a terrific start with a goal after five minutes, Keith Watson firing a shot in to the roof of the net. However, having kept Caley Thistle at bay until just before the interval, United's hopes were dented by Nadir Ciftci's dismissal following three minutes of madness that also saw three players booked and Terry Butcher and Darren Jackson sent to the stand.
The home side did eventually equalise early in the second half thanks to a Gary Warren header.

With the United defence standing firm, the tie went to extra-time, but with penalties looming large, Ross Draper popped up to head the winner to the anguish of the large Arab travelling support.
