UNDER-20S LOSE TO FALKIRK

28th March 2013

Showing four changes from the side that had beaten Motherwell so convincingly, the lacklustre Tangerines slumped to a disappointed defeat at Falkirk Stadium last night.

The Bairns drew first blood after 16 minutes when Craig Comrie's through ball released Lewis Small in the inside right channel he fired a diagonal shot from 15 yards.

United's only chance of the game came four minutes later when Robert Thomson drilled in a low shot which keeper Graham Bowman palmed away and although Jordan Allan got on the end of it he failed to get enough purchase on to steer the rebound on target.

Only a great save by visiting keeper Joe McGovern prevented Steven Brisbane making it two on the half hour mark.

McGovern again came to the rescue midway through the second period, tipping a Liam Dixon thunderbolt on to the bar.

And although the visitors improved after the break, they lacked creativity and never threatened an equaliser.
