It was stalemate in last night's top of the table Under-20s clash at Tannadice as United came from behind to deservedly hold leaders Celtic.
First blood almost went to the Tangerines with the best chance of the first half after 15 minutes.
The diminutive Ryan Gauld got on the end of a Ryan Ferguson corner, but his close range header was deflected past.
And other than a rising snap-shot from Celtic's Denny Johnstone creeping over the bar, that was the sum total of the first half chances.
However, only a brave double save by home keeper Joe McGovern 12 minutes into the second half to prevented Celtic going in front.
Six minutes later, the visitors again went close when a Liam Henderson drive clipped the top of the bar.
The deadlock was broken with 17 minutes left when Johnstone latched on to a through ball and slipped it past McGovern and into the empty net.
However, the lead was short-lived with United levelling five minutes later.
Half-time substitute Jordan Allan floated a free-kick beyond the far post where it was headed back across goal by Mark Russell and Robert Thomson nodded in from a yard out.
And in a strong finish United almost won it when Russell just failed to get a touch on Thomson's low driven cross.
