U-20S DEFEAT MORTON 7 - 1 IN SFA YOUTH CUP

21st October 2012

Despite losing a first minute goal, the youngsters eased their way into the next round of the Youth Cup against a Morton side that played almost an hour with ten men.

Jordan Moore was the star of proceedings scoring four and as he missed a penalty, he could easily have had five, if not more.

The striker cancelled out Kevin Hawke's shock opener for the visitors after 21 minutes with a surging run in the inside right channel before beating the keeper from ten yards.
Shortly afterwards, he passed up a glorious chance to put his side ahead.

Brought down in the box by Scott Keogh, who was red-carded, Jordan uncharacteristically blazed the resultant spot-kick way over the bar.

But on 33 minutes, the big striker atoned when clipping the ball home from 12-yards.

And two minutes later, Ryan Gauld put the finishing touches to a fine move orchestrated by Ryan Ferguson and Scott Fraser.

On the stroke of half-time, Ryan Gauld set up Jordan to complete his hat-trick.

The midfielder charged down the keeper's clearance outside of the box on the left and toe-poked the ball into the centre for Jordan to stroke in the fourth.

Within a minute of the re-start, Gauldy scored his second and the side's fifth with a neat finish from the edge of the box.
In what was now little more than a training exercise, Jordan rounded the keeper to score the sixth and take his personal tally to four after an hour.

Shortly before the end, Scott Smith scored from a second spot award after the midfielder had been brought down in the box.
