UNDER-20S LOSE TO HAMILTON

24th October 2012

The visitors had the Tannadice side on the back foot from the front and it was no surprise when they fell behind after 12 minutes.

As Accies continued to hold the upper hand, they almost doubled their lead when Darren Lyon clattered his shot against the post.

However, the New Douglas Park outfit did get a deserved second after 32 minutes and again it was a superb effort, Andy Ryan cutting across the face of the goal from the right before hammering home a left-foot shot from 12 yards.

Apart from two Ryan Gauld efforts which were saved, United weren't seen as an attacking force in the first half.

Things didn't improve for the Tangerines after the break with Kirkpatrick drilling a low shot to increase their lead.

Yet with Accies seemingly cruising to victory, United pulled one back with eight minutes left, Jordan Moore slotting home after the visiting keeper couldn't hold a Gauld drive.

Two minutes later, Gauld touched home a Barry Douglas cross to put a perhaps flattering reflection on the final score.
