United were unlucky not to win tonight as 6892 fans sampled Friday Night Football at Tannadice with the visit of Ross County.
Both sides had tried to pass the ball which served up some entertaining passages of play in the first half. However, only an early McMenamin header onto the bar and a superb effort from Michael Gardyne would brighten an otherwise toothless first 45.
The second half was a bit more open allowing both teams to get further forward and attempt to create chances. Unfortunately, United were just unable to make the final ball count. Although, Ryan Dow had a fine strike from just inside the area hit the top of the bar.
The final 5 minutes would see most of the goalmouth action with Gunning forcing a good save from Fraser from a Willo Flood corner. Indeed, the corners came thick and fast for the Terrors but to no avail and a goalless draw would be the result when the final whistle arrived.
Man of the Match: A young side for the Tangerines tonight and therefore plenty of positives to look at from a developmental perspective. Sean Dillon marshalled his defence well and is always a reliable man to have in the United back line. Michael Gardyne also showed some great skill against his former club and looks a real attacking threat for United. However, it was Stuart Armstrong who impressed most. A mature performance from the hot prospect showing his development is well on track.
