JOINT CLUB STATEMENT ON BEHALF OF DUNDEE FC AND DUNDEE UNITED FC

17th August 2012

This coming Sunday, 19 August 2012, at Tannadice Park sees the return of the competitive Dundee derby - the first since 2005. This game has really caught the imagination of the Dundee public and the fans of both football clubs . Tickets are sold out for almost every section of the stadium, despite the fact this game will be shown live on Sky Sports.

This brings an opportunity to promote not just all that is good with Scottish football but also all that is good about the city of Dundee and both clubs. There is no doubt this fixture enhances the SPL as a product and both clubs are delighted to have the opportunity to showcase the city's fine footballing pedigree to a worldwide audience.

With this opportunity comes responsibility and it is paramount that players, coaches, officials and supporters all do their utmost to ensure this game remains the positive advert it can be for the image of Scottish football, the city, and the clubs themselves.

We would ask all our supporters to act responsibly and take pride in showing the world that the Dundee derby is a unique occasion filled with good natured passion and free from any inappropriate behaviour.
