UNITED DEFEATED IN AUSTRIA

United suffered a 3-0 defeat to Rapid Vienna in the only match of their Austrian pre season camp.

In a match the Manager viewed purely as a fitness exercise the Austrian team showed the benefits of being only ten days from the start of their domestic season by scoring two long range strikes midway through the first half. New signing Michael Gardyne had the best efforts of the first half for United with two headers that forced the Vienna goalkeeper into saves.

The Manager used the second half to give the rest of the squad a run out and declared himself satisfied with the application and fitness showed by the players. The Austrians scored a third goal early in the second half to compete the scoring.

When the Manager spoke to ArabZONE after the game he reiterated his belief that with the benefits of the full pre season programme the team will be ready for the competitive action when it starts.
