UNITED START OFF NEW CAMPAIGN WITH HOME GAME V HIBERNIAN

18th June 2012

Dundee United will kick off the 2012-13 season with a home fixture against Hibernian. The match on Sunday August 5th will be sandwiched between the Europa 3rd round play off tie scheduled for August 2nd and August 9th. Week two will see the first postponement of the season as the scheduled trip to Celtic Park has been called off due to Celtic playing in a lucrative friendly match in the USA. Week 3 (August 18th) will see United at home to Club 12 - the as yet unnamed twelth club in the SPL. Other fixture dates against Club 12 are Saturday December 8th (away) and March 16th (home).

Major events in the timeline include a home game v neighbours St Johnstone on December 26th and a trip to Aberdeen for the New Years fixture on January 2nd. The final game before the league split will see Aberdeen visit Tannadice on Saturday April 6th.

SPL new boys Ross County will visit Tannadice for the first time on September 15th. Our first trip to Dingwall on SPL duty will take place on November 24th.

The reintroduction of a winter break also comes into play this coming season with no games scheduled between the Aberdeen game on January 2nd and the away visit to Kilmarnock on January 19th. This will tie in with the 4th Round of the Scottish Cup being played the weekend of December 1st this year rather than January.
