Dundee United today confirmed goalkeeper Steve Banks has signed a new one-year contract with the Club.
The new contract will allow Steve, who joined the Club in 2009 from Hearts, to continue coaching United's goalkeepers whilst providing experienced cover for new number one Radoslaw Cierzniak.
Manager Peter Houston is delighted to have the experience of Steve still available as part of the playing squad: "Steve has been an excellent member of the squad since joining us in 2009. Whilst we have Radoslaw Cierzniak on board now it is comforting to know I have Steve to call upon if required. He is still an excellent goalkeeper as well as a coach and his experience will also help Filip and Marc continue their development at the Club."
Steve Banks said: "It's been three great years at the Club and I didn't want that to end. With the European games and the successful League positions it has been tremendous. The cup medal in 2010 was just brilliant and I am hoping for a lot more good times this coming season.
"Last season, I didn't get much game time but I know I can do a job if required and this contract shows that the Club also believes in my ability, which is nice. If needed to play I am ready and signing this contract also allows me to continue coaching which I enjoy very much."
