GARY MACKAY-STEVEN YOUNG PLAYER OF THE MONTH

4th March 2012

Gary Mackay-Steven has been named the Clydesdale Bank Premier League Young Player of the Month for February.

Mackay-Steven was in great form throughout the month helping United remain unbeaten with three wins and a draw. United began the month with a fantastic 5-1 away win against St Johnstone, in which a spectacular piece of skill from Mackay-Steven was a highlight in the convincing win. United then drew 0-0 with St Mirren at Tannadice before returning to the goal trail in a 4-0 win over Kilmarnock with Gary a constant attacking threat throughout. United finished off the month with a 2-0 win against Hearts.

He also received international recognition winning his first Scotland U21 cap in the 0-0 draw with Holland. It was Mackay-Steven's directness and ability to entertain the crowds that led the panel to vote him as their Clydesdale Bank Premier League Young Player of the Month.

A panel of Scottish football experts chose the award winners from a shortlist which included the top three fans' nominations from Clydesdale Bank's football website, www.cbfootball.co.uk.
