U-19S THROUGH TO SFA YOUTH CUP SEMI FINALS

12th February 2012

During the first half, Stevie Campbell's young Tangerines were virtually penned back in their own half, but only trailed to a Dean Cumming strike three minutes from the interval.

Before then Livi had plenty of possession but rarely troubled home keeper Phil Anderson.

But the picture dramatically changed within ten minutes of the restart as United, in a scintillating spell, surged in front.

On 49 minutes, the visiting defence made a meal of a long throw which bounced kindly for Ryan Ferguson to hammer home from close range.

Six minutes later, Robert Thomson found the bottom corner with a curling shot from just outside the box to put United in front.

Midway through the second period, Ryan Ferguson's drive from the edge of the penalty area was hit in hope rather than expectation, but somehow slipped through Murphy's hands to extend the hosts' lead.

Embarrassingly for Murphy, he provided an action replay three minutes later when failing to deal with Thomson's acute angled effort.

Although Ross Docherty pulled one back for Livi two minutes later, United held firm.
