Dundee United FC today confirmed, subject to international clearance, the signing of defender Robbie Neilson on a short term contract until the end of the season. The 31-year-old ex Hearts and Leicester player joins up as Manager Peter Houston seeks to add some experience to his squad. Neilson, who has one Scotland cap to his name, has been without a Club since leaving Leicester City FC in the summer of 2011 and has chosen to come to Tannadice despite having offers from both England and abroad. His signing will bolster both the size and experience of the first team squad.
Manager Peter Houston said: "It isn't often you get the opportunity to add someone with Robbie's ability and experience to a squad at this time of the season and having him here will not only benefit the young lads at the Club but also enhances our choices on a matchday. I've known him since he was a young lad at Hearts and having played around 200 games for Hearts and also having played football in the championship, he will bring great experience to the squad. He is a quality defender who can play right across the back four and will be a great addition to our team."
