Stevie Campbell's young team pulled off a stunning victory at Ibrox this afternoon.
Although Rangers had the better share of possession throughout, the young Tangerines defended stoutly and took their chances to fire themselves into the next round of the competition.
The home side led by a single goal at half time but a fine equaliser from Scott Smith, soon after the restart, levelled the match. Rangers pressed hard but at full time it was 1-1. The first half of extra time brought no goals but with just ten minutes left, Scott Smith scored with a superb 25 yard strike to prompt an all out attack by the Ibrox youngsters.
However, it was United who scored again from a break; Jordan Moore netting with another good finish with the last kick of the ball.
Not surprisingly, Stevie Campbell was delighted with the performance from his players, saying it was his proudest moment in six years coaching at Tannadice.
