UNITED THROUGH TO NEXT ROUND OF SC LEAGUE CUP

20th September 2011

Dundee United were fired into the Quarter Finals of the Scottish Communities League Cup with fine goals from Ryan Dow and Jon Daly.

The match began in the cold of Lanarkshire with United looking the sharper, stronger team. It was with strength that Stuart Armstrong burst through the middle with great skill. His shot from the edge of the box was spilled by Airdrie United keeper Paul McKane and the ball then fell to Ryan Dow who fired United ahead.

The game continued with United strong and patient in possession. With seventy-five minutes gone, substitute Jon Daly sealed the victory by prodding home from a Paul Dixon cross to the back post.
