Dundee United today announced that striker Jon Daly and defender Sean Dillon had both agreed a contract extension, securing them to the Club until May 2013.
Jon joined the Club in January 2007 and quickly established himself within the first team. Despite early injury problems he has played 121 games for the Club scoring 39 goals. Club Captain since the start of 2009-2010, this season has already seen him grab three goals in five competitive games.
Sean also joined the Club in January 2007 as then Manager Craig Levein's second major signing of that transfer window. He became a first team regular at full back and has played 169 games for the Club, earning a Republic of Ireland 'B' cap in the process.
Manager Peter Houston said "Jon is an important member of the squad, our Club Captain. He is respected by the players and staff and that respect is well earned. He has also shown himself to be willing to play anywhere for the team and has filled the central back position superbly on a few occasions but his strike rate this season shows that he is most important to the team as a striker. He provides a big strong physical presence up front, as a target man to play in others, but also provides a definite goal threat. I like his approach to the job and his contribution to the team and I firmly believe we will see the best of Jon Daly over the next few seasons."
He added "Sean is a versatile player who is able to fill any position along the back line as well as showing himself to be comfortable in the midfield area also. His performances since moving to central defence have also shown that he is more than capable of playing there week in week out. He brings plenty of experience to our young squad, is a model professional who goes about his business in the right way and I'm delighted that he has agreed to extend his contract at the Club".
Jon Daly said "I'm delighted to have the opportunity to extend my time at Tannadice. I enjoy working here and work with a great set of boys. The Manager, coaching staff and supporters have been terrific to me, and it is a real honour to be Captain of Dundee United. I am proud to be Captain here and I just want to go out and do my best for Dundee United every week. My family love the area and are settled so it was important to me to commit myself until 2013".
Sean Dillon said, "I'm delighted to be staying with Dundee United. My partner and I are very settled and having recently added to our family it was important to us to have our immediate future mapped out. On the park, I have experienced some great times with the Scottish Cup win an obvious highlight. I am enjoying my football and that is the most important thing to any footballer. The team spirit here is phenomenal and it is so enjoyable turning up to work at Dundee United each day. I am looking forward to some more great times in the near future".
