Faced with a more experienced side from Newcastle, Dundee United held their own and at half time it was level at 0-0. A quick burst of three goals from the visitors just after half time ended the contest. Stevie Campbell was pleased with the work out and the performance from his young players, most of whom were Under-17s, . Dundee United's goal was scored by Under-17 squad player Gavin Thomson.
