Cool, controlled and composed, United can feel hard done by going into next week's second leg trailing to a Johan Voskamp goal.
The Dutch substitute scored the only goal of the game sixteen minutes from the end, but that didn't do justice to United's tremendous display.
Indeed Peter Houston's side should have been looking forward to next Thursday's second leg at Tannadice with even greater confidence because they could have been two up at the break.
Both Johnny Russell and David Goodwillie passed up gilt-edged chances.
And thereafter only that goal spoilt what otherwise was an outstanding performance in containing the Polish League runners-up.
So United's Europa League hopes remain very much alive with the Tannadice tie to come.
