United produced an energetic and spirited performance this afternoon at Tannadice to win all three points for the second time in six weeks and bring pressure to bear on the teams immediately above them in the SPL.
The star performers against the Steelmen were all at the back with Griffin, deVos, Lauchlan and McCunnie worthy of mention but it was an all-round team effort and manager Alex Smith was quick to link aspects of the display to events last Saturday at Easter Road.
"We got a great deal of public sympathy after what happened at Hibs and it was really important we went out and got a result against Motherwell. I felt we got something out of it in terms of team spirit."
Two second half goals from Easton and Hamilton, without reply, mean United go into the mid-season break just two points behind St. Mirren with the same number of games played following the Paisley side's failure to beat Rangers at Love Street tonight.
