A late surge by Celtic led to a disappointing 5-4 defeat for the U19s in the SFA Youth Cup Quarter Finals today.
Despite the loss of an early goal, United led 3-1 at half time through goals from Ross Smith, Scott Allan and Dale Hilson.
A Michael Lee volley looked to have put the youths through to the semis, but Celtic pulled a goal back quickly.
Significantly, Ross Smith - who played for the first team yesterday - was forced to retire with a cramp and Celtic exploited this defensive gap to claw their way back into the game.
The winner came just five minutes before the end after United were denied a strong penalty claim.
