A weakened United squad carved out a deserved 2 - 1 victory away to Aberdeen in a howling wind with an early goal from Michael Lee on two minutes and a Louis Swanson penalty in the second half.
A stout defensive performance earned the under strength Tannadice side all three points at Balgownie Playing Fields today.
The visitors got off to a great start with a goal after only two minutes, Michael Lee heading in a Lewis Swanson cross.
However, with the home pressure mounting, Mitch Meggison toe-poked the Dons level on 31 minutes.
In the second half, United were even more under the cosh, but their rearguard held firm and on the few occasions that Aberdeen found a way through they found Marc McCallum in unbeatable form.
In addition to making three superb stops, he also denied Jordan Brown from the penalty spot after 65 minutes.
And to add insult to injury for the home side, a minute later Lewis Swanson netted they winner from the spot after he had been brought down in the box.
