DERBY GAME CONFIRMED

31st July 2009

Dundee United will play Dundee at Tannadice on Tuesday 10 November, to officially hansel the Club's new floodlights and to raise funds for both clubs' youth development programmes.

All proceeds from the first local derby in four years will be shared on an equal basis, ensuring that each respective youth set up benefits equally from the occasion. Both clubs have pledged to ring fence the proceeds for this specific purpose.

Dundee United director Derek Robertson said, "There's nothing better than a local derby and we're therefore delighted that Dundee have agreed to be our guests for such a landmark occasion for the Club.

"This will be the first derby for four years and with the gate receipts being split evenly it means every fan will be contributing to their own club's youth development programme.

"We will also take the opportunity to use this match to promote the city of Dundee and highlight the valuable part that both city football clubs play in the local community, particularly in the youth sector. It is entirely appropriate therefore that it is the youth programmes of each club which will be the beneficiaries of the derby."

Dundee stadium manager Jim Thomson added, "We are really excited by the prospect of facing United in a derby. These are always great occasions anyway and this one will give us some measure of how we might fare against SPL opposition if we manage to get promoted this season.

"We are particularly delighted that the game will be a fund-raiser for youth development, which is a very important area for both clubs and for Scottish football in general.

"With there being an even split on gate receipts our fans know they will be contributing to their own team so it's all positive as far as we are concerned."

The match will be all tickets with prices of £16 Adults and £8 Concessions in all areas, with a 7.45pm kick off.

Further details will be announced in due course.
