UNDER-19S LOSE 1 - 0 TO FALKIRK

1st May 2009

In a match that summed up their season, the Tannadice teenagers were unlucky to lose to the only goal of the game at Stirling University in their final league fixture.

Although the hosts hoi the post early on, the Tangerines dominated the first half and retorted with a Dale Hilson shot that hit the bar from 25 yards.
In addition, Louis Swanson (twice), Ross McCors also went close.

So when the Bairns capitalised on a defensive lapse to go ahead on the half hour mark, it was very much against the run of play.

Indeed, but for theit keeper denying Scott Allan by blocking his shot with his legs, Unityed would have at least gone in level at the break.

If Falkirk assumed control at the start of the second half, thanks to resolute defending, it produced very few chances.

As it was, United finished the stronger and they really should have had a penalty when Ryan Dow was brought down, but that was typical of their luck in this match and the duration of the campaign.

Dundee United: Grant, Lee Howie, Burns (Moore 78), L Swanson (Scott 65), Allan, Stokes, Ross McCord, Hilson, Dow. (Subs not used: Hindley, Lundie, Byrne.
