RESERVES LOSE 3-0 TO KILLIE

28th April 2009

With Paul Dixon the only recognised Tannadice first team player in a side made up mostly of U19 and, indeed, U17 players, the Reserves neverthless acquitted themselves well against a Killie side full of first team experience.

Indeed, at Rugby Park, it was the visitors who carved out the better chances initially.

After nine minutes Ross Smith headed a Dixon cross inches wide and his fellow defender Cammie Howie also went close after 36 minutes.

But that was a pivotal point because a minute later the hosts took the lead, Kevin Kyle flicking in a good cross from Willie Gibson.

There was a further blow for United six minutes later, Conor Sammon collecting a James Fowler through ball and firing a shot on the turn into the roof of the net from just inside the box.

And the game was put beyond the Tangerines eight minutes into the second half when Kyle headed home Ian Flannigan's deep cross.
