A late equaliser gave Aberdeen a deserved share of the points at Glenesk today.
It was no more than the Dons deserved after having the Tangerines under the cosh for most of the second half.
It was a different story in the first half though when United edged possession and got their noses in front after 34 minutes.
Louis Swanson threaded a through ball in to John Murray who coolly slipped the ball under the advancing keeper.
But in the second half against a tiring home side, the Dons created and passed up a procession of chances.
And just when it was beginning to look as though they would never score, Mitchell Meggision sent Scott Ross racing through to clip the ball over the keeper from just outside the box.
Almost immediately, United went within inches of getting a second, Murray just failing to get on the end of an inviting cross at the far post.
Had that gone in, it would have been unfair given Aberdeen's dominance of the second period.
