Although the result didn't reflect it, the Tannadice teenagers turned on their best performance of the season in an entertaining encounter at the Highland Academy yesterday afternoon.
Only failure to take their chances prevented them defeating an Inverness side that recently eliminated Celtic from the Youth Cup.
Though the majority of their chances came after the interval, the visitors did go close on a couple of occasions in the first half.
Both Ross McCord, who was outstanding in midfield, and Scott Allan had good strikes saved.
Ten minutes into the second half, only a great save by the home keeper kept out a Scott Allan effort and Ryan Dow was similarly thwarted.
Defender Ross Smith had a header cleared off the line and was inches away with another header shortly afterwards.
And with ten minutes left, Ryan Dow was though on goal only for a desperate dive by the keeper to foil him as his shot went just past.
Two minutes from the end, Inverness got the ball in the net, only for an offside decision to prevent daylight robbery.
