Although it took a good save by Conor Grant in the last minute to ensure that the young Tangerines came home from McKenna Park with a point, it would have been an injustice had they lost today's league clash.
Despite being much the younger side, the United Under-19s more than held their own.
First-half, there was nothing between the teams, although Saints did hit the post seven minutes from the interval.
However, after the break, United began to dominate and the home keeper made excellent stops to deny Ryan Dow and John Murray.
Ten minutes from time, Michael Lee also went close heading a Robert Thomson flick just over, but in the end a draw was probably the right result.
Dundee United: Grant, Lee, R Smith, Howie, Shaw, Allan, Stokes, Ross McCord, Dow, Murray (Thomson 80), Hilson.
Subs not used: Hindley, K Smith, Burns, W Robertson.
