ST MIRREN GAME ANNOUNCEMENT

20th October 2008

At the request of the Thompson family, admission prices throughout the stadium will be reduced to £5 only this Saturday, to allow as many supporters as possible to pay their respects to Chairman Eddie Thompson. The family has also requested a minute's silence prior to kick off.

Also at the request of the family, all those attending are encouraged to wear and display tangerine, as one of the Chairman's most passionate ambitions was to replicate at Tannadice the "sea of tangerine" seen at many Hampden cup finals.

Cash turnstiles will be open throughout the stadium, with United supporters also being allocated the Jerry Kerr Stand on this occasion. Season ticket holders should please note that admission to the Shed will be by cash only. The Fair Play Stand will be for the away support, as usual.

Chief Executive Stephen Thompson said, "We are very aware that many United supporters - and indeed fans of other teams - will wish to attend Saturday's game to pay tribute to my father. We want to encourage this as much as possible, but do not wish to be seen to profit from this genuine and heartfelt recognition of my father's contribution to the Club and Scottish football. My family has therefore requested that prices are reduced to this nominal level and that as many fans as possible wear tangerine as a mark of respect.

In recognition of the very personal nature of the relationship that my father had with many of those attending the game, we feel that a minute's silence is the most appropriate way to mark the occasion at Tannadice.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their kind and moving tributes paid to my father and for the wonderful response by supporters of all SPL clubs, and at other grounds, before each game at the weekend."

All supporters are requested to arrive early this Saturday to avoid unnecessary queuing and delays, and to ensure that all are seated in time for the one minute's silence to the Chairman prior to kick off. Prior to the game itself, music from the Chairman's favourite artists, including The Beatles, Neil Diamond and Rod Stewart will be played over the PA system.
