U15s WIN ABERDEEN INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL

19th July 2008

United's Under 15s lifted the Aberdeen International Football Festival trophy this afternoon at Seaton Park, defeating Lewis United 4-0 in an outstanding display of attacking football.

Midfielder Ryan Ferguson opened the scoring after 29 minutes with a spectacular 25 yard drive into the roof of the net, after striker Conor Kelly had knocked a high ball down into his path, to put his side ahead at the interval.

Winger Calum Gallagher netted his side's second from close in after 52 minutes and, before the end, a dominant United side had scored twice more with Kelly and skipper Ross Gilmour both netting from the penalty spot as a desperate local side tried vainly to stem the United tide.

This was United's first success at the Festival since 2005, when a team captained by Keith Watson lifted the trophy.
