RESERVES DRAW 2 -2 WITH ST MIRREN

6th May 2008

By holding the leaders, the Tannadice side put a real spoke in the wheels of St Mirren's Reserve League title hopes.

Saints now lead Inverness Caley by two points - with both teams having one game left to play - and Celtic trail by a further point, but still have three games to play.

A draw was no less than the Love Street visitors deserved.

Slightly below par in the first half, they really got the act together in the second half when they were much the better team.

Indeed, they passed up a whole host of chances before finally getting an overdue equaliser ten minutes from time.

United went in front after only 8 minutes when Saints keeper Chris Smith ceded possession as he was closed down by Kevin Smith, leaving Eric Odhiambo with a simple tap in.

A Mark Docherty double in 28 minutes and 49 minutes then put the home side in front.

However, United's onslaught finally brought its reward when a corner fell to Sean Fleming and the full back's angled drive found its way into the net through a forest of legs.
