The combination of Craig Conway and Jon Daly proved far too potent for an inexperienced Pittodrie second string at Station Park.
If Daly took the scoring honours by grabbing his first hat-trick in tangerine, Conway took as many pluadits, because he supplied the ammunition on each occasion.
For good measure, the provider supreme capped his excellent performance by deservedly scoring the fourth.
Just seven minutes had gone when Daly squeezed home the opener at the near post.
In what was their first foray upfield five minutes later, Aberdeen equalised, Josh Walker's powerful free-kick from 22 yards eluding Camara.
Dominating, the Tannadice team eventually regained the lead five minutes from the break when Daly knocked home a deep cross at the far post.
In a rare attack, Walker did go close to levelling for the visitors three minutes into the second half, his effort hitting the bar.
Two minutes later, however, the deadly duo almost struck again, Daly's effort being blocked on the line by Langfield.
But the pair enjoyed better luck after 63 minutes, Daly prodding home a curling Conway cross from ten-yards.
Garry Kenneth, Danny Swanson and new boy Kevin Smith all came close to adding to United's tally until Conway did seven minutyes from the end, his well-struck effort from 12-yards beating Langfield at his near post.
