The Reserves won 3 - 1 against their Hearts counterparts today with a goal from Kevin Smith and two from Craig Conway.
Two quick goals early in the second half set the Tannadice Reserves on the way to a comfortable win over their Tynecastle counterparts at Forthbank, Stirling.
If there was a distinct end of season feel about a rather lifeless first period, United re-started with a great deal more purpose, which was soon rewarded.
Just five minutes of the second half gone, Jim O'Brien cut in from right and sprayed the ball wide to Craig Conway on the left and Kevin Smith headed his cross in at the near post.
Three minutes later, O'Brien fed Eric Odhiambo and the on-loan Leicester striker steered the ball across the six-yard box for Conway to net at the far post.
On seventy minutes, United broke quickly and after good work by Kevin Smith down right the right, he turned the ball inside to Conway who drilled home his second of the match from the edge of the box.
Four minutes from time, Hearts caught the United defence napping with a quick free-kick being played into Sean Mackle who found the net from 16 yards.
Dundee United: Camara, Kovacevic, Kenneth, McGrath, Robb, O'Brien, Swanson (Ryan McCord 80), Buaben, Conway, K Smith (J Russell 80), Odhiambo. Substitutes not used: Gibson, Fleming.
