Dundee United's outstanding performance was a fitting end to football at East Stirling's Firs Park.
The Bairns simply had no answer to the Tannadice second string as they chalked up their biggest win of the campaign.
They set their stall out by scoring in the second minute, having already missed a penalty!
Eric Odhiambo was brought down, but Jim O'Brien's spot-kick was saved.
However from the ensuing corner, Kieran Staunton, under pressure from Mihael Kovacevic, put the ball past his own keeper.
Just after the mid-point of the first half, Odhiambo coolly right-foot finished from 12 yards to double the visitors' lead after being set up by Prince Buaben.
The only surprise as shots rained in on home keeper Robert Olejnik, was that was how the score remained at the interval.
Both Craig Conway and Jim O'Brien hit the woodwork, but a third was only delayed. Odhiambo again finishing stylishly after 57 minutes, but this time with his left following a great Conway run.
Four minutes later, Kevin Smith added a fourth with a looping header from Ryan McCord's cross from the left.
Carelessness temporarily crept into United's play, and they were punished for it as the home side pulled two back through Mark Stewart and substitute Laing after 74 and 76 minutes.
However, United were stung into action, and five minutes from time, Johnny Russell's superbly judged lob went in off the underside of the crossbar.
And with three minutes later, Jim O'Brien rounded off the victory in style; hammering home Odhiambo's cut-back.
