Dundee United Chairman, Eddie Thompson, tonight announced that he had appointed his son, Stephen, as Chief Executive with immediate effect. The announcement was made to shareholders at the Annual General Meeting of the Club.
Stephen has been understudying his father's role at the Club since the Thompson family took control in September, 2002. He has recently taken on a more active role and has been working closely with the Chairman and also with Craig Levein, the Club's Team Manager and Director of Football, on a wide range of issues.
The new Chief Executive position completes recent changes to the management structure of the business, including a strengthening of the financial department.
Eddie Thompson and wife Cath will remain as the principal shareholders at the Club, holding approximately 90% of the overall shareholding between them.
In other business, the AGM approved the Company's annual accounts to June 2007, together with the re-appointment of the Deloitte & Touche as auditors. Stephen Thompson and Derek Robertson were re-elected to the Board and the appointment of Cath Thompson was confirmed.
