Until today, Gary Kirk had been Assistant Manager at Raith Rovers, where he has worked since being appointed by Craig Levein in 2006.
He had also worked under the Manager at Cowdenbeath, Hearts and Leicester.
Craig Levein said today, "It is good that Gary can come in straight away."
"He is someone I know well from him helping John McGlynn with the youths at Hearts when I was there and doing some scouting for me at Leicester.
"I know him and the way he works and he knows me."
Gary arrived at the Club today and his first task will be to take the Reserves to Almondvale for a league match with Hibs.
