The Clydesdale Bank Scottish Premier League fixture list for 2007-08 has just been published and everyone at Tannadice is excited at the prospect of the season opening with a north-east derby game at home against New Firm rivals Aberdeen. Following the six-goal thriller at Pittodrie which we won at the tail end of last season, there is no reason why United should not be optimistic about securing that rarity in recent seasons - an opening day victory.
The Aberdeen game is followed by a series of matches against the lesser lights of the SPL (on paper) with the Old Firm and Hearts being met in three out of the last four fixtures. This gives United the opportunity to build up a head of steam before this tough final sequence.
The fixtures over the festive season are kinder to travelling Arabs than of late with a Wednesday Boxing Day game against Celtic at Tannadice sandwiched between weekend matches against Gretna at home and Motherwell away.
The full set of fixtures can be viewed on the
SPL website and United's on
www.dundeeunitedfc.co.uk.
They are of course subject to change depending on UEFA competition commitments and the requirements of Setanta.
ArabZONE features an interview with Chairman Eddie Thompson on the 2007.08 fixtures.
