Dundee United completed "significant business" this week by securing the services of influential captain Barry Robson, who has signed a three year extension to his current contract, tying him to the Club until May 2011.
Chairman Eddie Thompson said, "I am absolutely delighted that our club captain has demonstrated his long term commitment to Dundee United in this way. Barry would have been free to talk to other clubs in less than a year from now and, together with the Manager, we thought it was important to make every effort now to secure his long term future for the Club. I am delighted that he readily agreed to this.
I consider this a significant piece of business for the Club and believe that this sends out a very positive message indeed about the long term future of Dundee United."
Manager Craig Levein said, "I am absolutely delighted to have secured the services of our captain and most influential player, Barry Robson, on a long term deal. I believe that Barry is already one of the best midfield players in Scotland and can become better still."
Barry Robson added, "I am very pleased to have committed myself to the Club in this way. I am an ambitious person and have been impressed with the ambitions of the Manager and, of course, the Chairman."
