DRIVING DUNDEE UNITED’S YOUTH & COMMUNITY PROGRAMME

10th November 2006

Dundee United today took delivery of two brand new mini buses to transport the Club’s Youth and Community players, coaches and staff around the local community and to the club’s various coaching centres around Scotland. The supply of the buses has been made possible by a generous joint sponsorship arrangement from ArabTRUST, the Dundee United Supporters’ Trust and local property company, J & E Shepherd, Chartered Surveyors. The buses, in distinctive livery, will be used to transport players in the club’s professional and non professional youth development programme to training, coaching centres and matches and will also be used to undertake community initiatives and related activities. Youth Coach Stevie Campbell said, “We are grateful to ArabTRUST and to J & E Shepherd for their generous support. The buses will be used to good effect and will help us enormously in the day to day operations in the youth and community programmes.” ArabTRUST Secretary Ian Blair said “Assisting youth and community development at Tannadice is one of the key objectives of the Trust and I’m sure our members will be delighted that their contributions have been used in this way. In the last few months ArabTRUST has also purchased new playing and training kit for all the non-professional youth sides and provided funds to produce this season’s Youth Development magazine. We are committed to continuing to provide assistance to help today’s youngsters become stars of the future. “ John Bennett of J & E Shepherd said, “We are delighted to be associated with the youth and community programmes at Dundee United.” Dundee United also confirmed that this latest sponsorship amount from ArabTRUST has taken their total sponsorship assistance for this year to a level whereby the supporters’ trust is now recognised as an official principal sponsor of Dundee United FC.
