A fairly nondescript first half saw United a goal behind at half time, after Hampshire scored in 20 minutes.
Within a minute of the re-start Brechin had doubled their lead when a Walker cross somehow drifted into the net at the back post.
The young makeshift United side then stepped up a gear and had several chances to score.
In 80 minutes Stan Easton scored with a header from a Feeney cross. Feeney also went close himself but the game petered out without any further scoring.
