CAMERON AND KENNETH SIGN UP UNTIL 2010

11th October 2006

Dundee United today secured the services of two of their most promising young stars when Greg Cameron and Garry Kenneth signed contract extensions of three years that will keep them at Tannadice until 2010.

Both were members of the Scotland Under-19 squad which was runners-up in the U-19 European Championships in Poland this summer and indeed, Greg Cameron captained the Scotland Under-19s to their big wins over Bosnia Herzegovina and Estonia which saw them qualify from their section with Germany.

Neither are strangers to first team football either.

Greg became the youngest player to play for United in the Premier League, the sixteen-year-old beating Christian Dailly's record when he came on to replace Grant Brebner in United's 3-0 victory over Kilmarnock on 11 December 2004 and featured twice more from the substitutes' bench that season. Since starting for the first time at the tail end of last season, the highly talented 18-year-old midfielder has quickly become a first team regular, missing only one game this season and that was because he was playing for the Scotland U19s in the final against Spain in Poland on the opening day of the season.

Like Greg, Garry is also from Dundee and has come through the Tannadice youth ranks. The towering defender was only 17 when he played in the Scottish Cup Final being a member of the side that lost to Celtic in the 2005 final, having made his first team debut in the 3-0 cup win over Queen of the South on the road to Hampden.

Along with team mate Greg Cameron, Garry was part of the U-19 Scotland squad that reached the finals of the UEFA U19s Championship in Poland in 2006. Though only 19 last June, Garry has already clocked up 32 first team appearances, scoring once.

Both youngsters are fans' favourites, not least because they are both United fans themselves.
