Dundee United today announced that 17 year old David Goodwillie had signed a three and a half year contract extension, extending his stay at the Club until May 2010.
David has been with the Club since he was 14 and signed professional forms in 2005. In March 2006 he became the youngest ever player to score in the SPL when he scored for Dundee United against Hibernian at Easter Road. He has been a regular for Scotland's U17 team and recently scored four goals for Scotland U19s in the UEFA qualifying games against Bosnia Herzegovina and Germany.
Chairman Eddie Thompson welcomed the signing and said , "David is an exciting young player who appears able to score goals at every level. At 17 he is already knocking loudly on the door of the first team and has the potential to become a real fans' favourite and star of the future. This is why I have been delighted to secure his services on a longer term deal and to know that he was happy to pledge his future to Dundee United."
David Goodwillie said, "I'm delighted to follow the footsteps of Scotland U19 team-mates Garry Kenneth and Greg Cameron and extend my contract at Dundee United for a longer period. I'm very happy at this Club and with the standard of coaching which I've received throughout my time here. I'll continue to develop here and I'm looking forward to challenging for a regular first team place."
