Aberdeen deservedly opened the scoring in the first half of this game in which they certainly had the better of the play albeit that they only created two clear-cut chances.
After the interval, however, United's Under 19s gave a vastly improved display but Robbie Feeney, Gordon Pope and Scott Paterson all scorned straightforward goal chances.
Though Feeney equalised following great build-up play from Sean Fleming, Marco Andreoni and Scott Paterson, United's failure to capitalise on their excellent outfield play was severely punished by the home side which scored what proved to be the winning goal with a deflected header from only their second corner of the half with ten minutes
remaining.
