Dundee United has today secured the services of Lee Wilkie on a contract to the end of the season. The 26-year-old Scotland defender has been training at Tannadice for the past month following his release from Dundee FC after a two-and-a-half year fight with knee injuries.
In accordance with the rules, Wilkie was allowed three appearances as a trialist for the Tannadice Club. He has come through these games with flying colours having played against the Kilmarnock, Dunfermline and Inverness CT Reserves over the last few weeks.
Plymouth Argyle, Gretna, Sheffield Wednesday and QPR have all been reported to be interested in the player but Wilkie expressed his preference in an exclusive interview with Dundee United Media: "It's great to be here and play football at Tannadice. I'm sure my family and friends will be delighted as the great majority of them are United daft."
Craig Brewster said: "Lee has already been capped 11 times for Scotland; this shows the standard he has set previously. Over the next few weeks, we expect him to gain full match fitness and establish himself as a regular in the United starting eleven."
