Former United midfielder Grant Johnson could get the chance to return to the Tangerines later this summer.

Recently released by Huddersfield Town after a season spent largely on the sidelines due to illness, the Dundonian has been training at Tannadice in the last few weeks. Johnson needs games and may head to Iceland over the summer. He could then return to Tannadice for a trial during the pre-season build up.

"I think Grant needs games and if he gets them we would certainly be willing to have a look at him here," says assistant manager John Blackley. "He has played at a high level both here and at Huddersfield and has plenty of experience under his belt. That is something we lack and have been looking to add to the squad."

Current under-21 international Jim Paterson has also been in training this week and he should be full recovered from his broken leg by the time pre-season training starts in a month.
