Stevie Campbell's side maintained their unbeaten record with a well-merited win over his former Inverness youth charges at Grant Street this afternoon.
The home side actually made the brighter start, but it was United who went ahead after twenty minutes.
Ryan McCord headed a through ball into the path of David Goodwillie who rifled the ball in at the bottom near post corner from the edge of the box.
It was United who were now calling the tune and Marco Andreoni and Ryan McCord both fired narrowly over before 'Pongo' was denied by a good save.
However, it wasn't all one-way traffic with John Gibson smothering a couple of long-range efforts.
But a storming start to the second half by United's youngsters put the game out of reach for the home side.
Ten minutes after the restart, David Goodwillie cleverly played Marco Andreoni in and he rounded the keeper to knock the ball into the empty net.
The issue was put beyond doubt three minutes later when Robbie Feeney deftly engineered his way to the bye-line before whipping in a cross from which 'Pongo' McCord netted with a near post header.
The home side refused to give up, and apart from hitting the post, were also thwarted by John Gibson's great save from Dale Davidson.
Team: Gibson, Milligan, Pope, McMechan, O'Byrne (McGrath 40), McCord, Paterson, Andreoni, Feeney, Goodwillie (Jeffrey 60), Fleming (Mathieson 75),. Substitutes not used: Gray, Russell, O;Hara.
Stevie Campbell commented:
"I was delighted to win and it is a mark of the high standards the lads have set that this was achieved with passing the ball quite as well as they have been going.
By any measure though, a three-gaol win away from home is not to be sneezed at, especially as we have now gone four games without losing a goal."
