RESERVES DRAW WITH FALKIRK

11th April 2006

The Tannadice second string extended their unbeaten run to four games after this afternoon's goalless draw at the Falkirk Stadium.

Given the way the game went, with the home side having the better of things early on but with United finishing the stronger, a draw was a fair result.

It was also good to see midfielder Barry Callaghan back in action for the first time since before Christmas, playing all bar the last ten minutes.

Tony Docherty's side lined up in 4-4-2 formation - McLean - Abbot, O'Byrne, Ritchie, Gardiner - Callaghan (Andreoni 79), Cameron, Robertson, Easton - Goodwillie, McKenzie.

Tannadice hero in the early stages was Euan McLean, keeping his side in the game with two fine saves. One effort from Pedro Moutinho was particularly outstanding, however, those were the lone highlights of a rather lifeless first period.

After the break, it was different story as United had the better of things against their more experienced opponents.

David Robertson was unlucky to see his volley from a Barry Callaghan cross from 15-yards dip narrowly over on the hour mark.

And Willie Easton wasn't far away with a free-kick that just went by the post.

And in the last minute, the visitors almost stole the points when the home keeper scrambled away substitute Marco Andreoni's near post effort from David Goodwillie's cross.

United used subs were Gibson, Feeney, McAleenan, Gray.
