Stevie Campbell's side delivered their first win under his charge at Auchincruive Agricultural College on Saturday morning.
"It was well-deserved and great to keep a clean sheet," said the Tannadice youth coach.
"What was equally as pleasing was that four out of the defence were Under-17s which augurs very well for the future," added Stevie.
Stevie reported that the youths did have an early scare when Gary Davidson clattered a shot against the bar after only seven minutes.
However, midway through the first-half, David Gray gave United the lead curling home a right-foot free-kick from 22-yards after Kieran McAleenan had been up-ended.
Although McAleenan and Marco Andreoni both had good chances, that was how the score stood at the interval.
The home side started the second half brightly, but without really threatening.
And the young Tangerines sealed their second win of the season after 67 minutes when Robbie Feeney turned home a Phil McGarth header at the back post.
Team: Gibson, Watson, Pope, McGrath, O'Byrne, Burnett, Gray (McCord 75), O'Hara, Feeney (Paterson 85), Andreoni, McAleenan. Subs not used: McMeechan, Russell.
