The Bank of Scotland Premierleague Passport has been designed by the clubs in conjunction with the SPL and the league's sponsor. It will reduce the costs of travelling to away matches for many young fans and add extra value to their season ticket.
The Bank of Scotland Premierleague Passport allows many U12 season ticket holders to gain entry free of charge to certain away matches through the course of the season when accompanied by a paying adult.
Lex Gold, SPL Executive Chairman said, "Last season saw an increase in crowds across the league with over 3.5 million attending Bank of Scotland Premierleague matches. The young are the seedcorn of the national game's future. The clubs and Bank of Scotland have developed this initiative to encourage more kids and families to follow their teams around the country this season."
Season ticket holders who are under the age of 12 at Aberdeen, Dundee United, Dunfermline Athletic, Hearts, Inverness CT, Kilmarnock, Livingston and Motherwell will all be provided with Bank of Scotland Premierleague Passports, from which vouchers can be exchanged for entry to away matches.
Hibernian and Rangers will issue free tickets, for away games, directly to a balloted number of their U12 season ticket holders on a match-by-match basis while Celtic have gained an increased amount of concession tickets for each match as part of the initiative.
The vouchers will be valid for most Bank of Scotland Premierleague fixtures but fans should check with their club for further information.
Falkirk are the only Premierleague club not able to participate in the initiative due to the capacity restrictions but are keen to monitor its success and may come on board in the future.
The promotion was in operation at last weekend's Dundee United V Aberdeen and Rangers V Livingston fixtures with over 120 young Aberdeen and Livingston fans benefiting from the scheme.
Sarah Mackie, Sponsorship Director at Bank of Scotland commented, "The Bank of Scotland Premierleague Passport is an innovative idea that is designed to increase the number of young fans attending Premierleague matches. Bank of Scotland is a major investor in the Scottish footballing community and is dedicated to promoting Scottish grassroots and elite football to fans of all ages."
