Goals from Scott Paterson, Neil McMechan, David Goodwillie, Ryan McCord and Marco Andreoni clinched our third Aberdeen International Football Festival success in as many years on Saturday afternoon.
After lifting the Under 14 Cup in 2003 and 2004, these achievements were matched by our Under 16 players who entertained the large crowd with an outstanding display of attacking football at the Chris Anderson Stadium.
Having disposed of Gnistan 890 from Finland, the Faroese national team and Scottish opposition on their way to the final, United's youngsters met Aberdeen champions Dyce, surprise 2-0 winners in their semi-final against Ross County, but, in spite of losing an early goal to a cruelly deflected free kick, they overpowered the local favourites to clinch the trophy.
Graeme Liveston: "This group of players was determined to lift the AIFF Cup after the disappointment of losing out in the final of the Festival d'Armor in June. They set about the task throughout the week with real gusto and no little skill and thrilled the large crowds at Seaton Park with excellent play and spectacular goals. Their win was well deserved."
