With Tony Docherty on duty with the first team squad, Dave Bowman it was who lined up the youth side at Hearts Football Academy to face second placed Hearts.
The team was in the usual 4-4-2 formation with Euan McLean in goal behind the back four of Gregg Burnett, Jamie Donnelly, Ross Gardiner and William Easton. In midfield were Keiron McAleenan, David Robertson, Marco Andreoni and Barry Callaghan with Joe Andrew and Nicky McDonald up front. Without a couple of key players the first half saw a decent performance from the young Tangerines but mistakes proved costly with Hearts taking a 3-0 lead by the interval.
In the second half the players tightened things up and matched the stronger Hearts players and their play at least deserved a goal or two. After the match Dave said: "Mistakes were made but the boys will just have to learn from these. That apart we did not play badly and never really deserved to lose by three goals."
